An Invocation

My friends and I agreed on the astral goal of invoking the Master Samael about a week before the actual event. It gave us some time for internal preparation. A Great Master once said, "When two people on earth agree concerning anything that they ask for, it will be done for them by my Father who is in Heaven." I wanted us to agree without hesitation so that the night ran smoothly. A thought did cross my mind that the goal I was suggesting risked rejection for being too high, but I intuitively knew something about goal-setting that I later found in the following words: "Aim for the moon, if you miss you might hit the stars."

We started the night by listening to a piece of music while internally resolving to strive for the goal and consider what we might ask Samael if we were to succeed. I had my mind made up to give it my best, regardless of how much sleep I got. I knew that even the very consideration of a secondary thing like health or sleep might weaken my will to achieve it. Paracelsus' advice comes to mind: "Faith is weakened by doubt and scattered by secondary considerations."

It was the four of us. The house was pleasantly decorated. Plants and candles were seen everywhere. I had designed the schedule for the night and that schedule was to wake up twice during the night in order to increase our chances of success. I had carefully prepared the music that we were going to listen to in the breaks and most of the other details were accounted for. This careful preparation of mine came from my intuitive understanding of a principle which was formulated by one author like this: "God is in the details."

Upon going into the practice room for our first practice I had decided to visualize with as much perseverance as possible. A continuous struggle was going to issue forth from me, regardless of how many times I lost the thought. This attitude of mine was probably related to my understanding of the magical power of perseverance. "What one wills with perseverance, one does."

The first practice was an invocation and visualization of Samael himself. I felt his presence early on but was unsuccessful in our first attempt.

The second practice was a visualization of Mars and I got glimpses of the planet during my attempt to visualize it. I'm not sure now when it happened but I did find myself rolling out of my bed and into the room, in the astral. I decided to leave the practice room and head into the living room. One of the participants was there and he said to me, "You know he's here." He then looked over toward a doorway. I knew what to do. I went through the door and followed the passage to what seemed to be a different part of the house, a part that didn't exist physically. It seems as though some people had gathered there and I searched for Samael. Intuitively I did take notice of a certain man there and decided to ask him what his name was. He replied, "Samael Aun Weor" with the correct pronunciation. It seems as though he had made a little home down there which may have been the result of the strong practice. It is said that Masters are attracted to such forces. Although at the start of the night I had resolved to ask him a particular thing, my heart must've been elsewhere because I asked him something completely different. "What do you think of me making a compilation of your books?" "They are old," was his reply. "What teachings then can you give me now to pass onto humanity?" He gave me a bunch of papers. I put them aside and we started chatting about nationalities and at one point we both laughed, as if to say, "How funny that earthlings are so patriotic." At this point I looked over to where I had put the papers and realized they were gone. So I decided to ask Samael just one phrase I could write down and pass onto humanity. The phrase? "You must become One, because you have critically no idea."

The others did not achieve the goal but we were all taught something. Regardless, "The success of one is the success of all."
