My First Out-of-Body Experience

For almost two months, I was practicing a considerable amount of thorough reality checks, as well as concentration and visualization exercises in order to prepare myself to achieve my goal of having my first conscious out-of-body experience.

I went to sleep in the usual manner of trying to remain as aware and relaxed as possible as I observed my body falling asleep. I lost a bit of awareness and then caught myself participating in a scene of a dream. My awareness came back to me and I recognized that what I was experiencing was only projections of my subconscious. With this realization, I was able to simply walk away from the dream scene that I was involved in and remember my goal to have my first conscious out-of-body experience. In order to strengthen my intention, I loudly repeated to myself, “I will now have a fully conscious out-of-body experience.” I repeated this about five to ten times.

Each time that I would repeat this, I felt my intention intensely growing inside of me and the hold that the dream had upon me began to loosen. I started to float, feeling that I became lighter and lighter and rose higher and higher and soon the dream faded and I opened my eyes.

I was in my bed, but I knew I hadn't woken up as normal because there was this intense high pitched ring and buzzing hum that seemed to swirl inside of me and all around me. I stuck out my arm towards the wall near my bed and watched my hand pass right through it.

Right away I became euphoric as I knew I achieved what I had been working hard for! Now this was my time for an ultimate exploration. Simply by thinking of it, I floated up towards the ceiling and turned myself around and saw my physical body sleeping in my bed. It was so strange to see this, and it intuitively gave me some knowledge to not fear my future death as I now knew that I existed outside of my body.

Filled with exhilaration, I had to go test this new dimension. I floated through the wall and delighted in the sensation which seemed like passing through a wall of warm water.
From high upon the roof, I observed the details of my back yard: the wooden fence, the air conditioning unit, the lawnmower, the concrete… it all looked exactly how it did through the eyes of my physical body while it was awake.

I was able to fly and flew slowly over my familiar neighborhood yet it looked so amazingly vivid and interesting from my astral point of view, which I never imagined to be possible.
I soon had an urge to surge straight up into the sky so far and high to see what the Earth would look like from perhaps a different planet, but something unknown stopped me. For some reason, I just couldn’t go up any further.

So I decided that my exploration had to stay on Earth for the moment. I had a thought to visit my mother who lived about 60 miles away. I closed my eyes and demanded to myself, “I now go to my mother’s house!” Instantly I felt a very strong pull, and I was as fast and loud as the air that gets sucked into the hose of a vacuum; and boom - I was standing in the kitchen of my mother’s house.

Again, I never thought I would be so amazed to see things just as they are: the table, the chairs, the kitchen sink, the floor tiles, the cute little dog and the cat that slept in the kitchen- all un-amazing things, yet absolutely beautiful and spiritual to me all just because I was in the astral!

The little dog with the curly fur and floppy ears came up to me and was wagging its tail for friendly attention. I then questioned this: is the dog sensing me here? Can it see me in the astral? Or maybe the dog has also astral projected and is in the astral right now?

I started to think about these questions and it became hard to focus. I realized that thinking of questions was making my experience become blurry. Then I saw some kittens playfully scurrying down the hall.

I didn’t remember any kittens at my mom’s house the last time I visited her, and I become curious about them. I followed after them and one kitten nudged a door to my mother’s roommate bedroom open. I started to go in, but then thought that maybe it isn’t good to go into people’s privacy, but I had to verify something, gather evidence of some sort. So I proceeded to go into the room, but did not continue because that instant vacuum sucking sensation came over me and I immediately found myself jolted awake in my bed at home. This time I was physically awake. I could feel my heart beating and the weight of my fleshy body. I felt excited and woke my younger sister up by yelling to her, “I did it, I did it! I left my body!” She groggily woke up and just said in a half asleep voice, “Oh, that’s cool...” and then continued her light snoring.

Here I was, absolutely exhilarated after this life changing experience of walking through walls, flying in the air, teleporting to my mom’s house and back, and I’m told that it was cool, followed by some snoring! I knew I would never forget that and am thankful to be sharing this story today. Maybe it will inspire someone else to apply the necessary ambition to achieve their first conscious out-of-body-experience.
