Waking up in Dreams

Another way to achieve a conscious astral experience - waking up in dreams

Finding the thread of lucidity in dreams

Waking up in dreams (also known as lucid dreaming) can be a great way of experiencing the astral plane. If we question whether we’re dreaming or not during daily life, there’s a chance that we’ll repeat that in dreams. If we do, we can realize that we’re dreaming and become lucid, or awake. This happened to me a number of times.

First Experiences

Hello,

My first experience was when I was in my late teens or early twenties; I can’t remember the age exactly. I was aware of the concept of astral projection at the time but didn’t know much about it other than some confusing/vague books I had read about it.

A Taste of Reality

When I first found out about the technique of waking up in a dream, it did not work for me as it was described in the Astral Travel and Dreams book. I found myself flying at times here and there in dreams, but it was never a conscious experience; rather a more lucid dream where I was able to fly.

Strange Phenomenon in the Night

When my brother reached his teens he started having strange things happen to him at night. He would wake up completely paralyzed, unable to move as though an invisible force was holding him down. Sometimes he would hear strange whirring noises too, other times he would feel like his bed was vibrating. He couldn’t speak or call out for help and it used to terrify him. He would struggle and struggle and eventually would break out of it and find himself in his bed, alone and unhurt, with nothing there.

Far Away from Home

Astral experiences have really changed my understanding of reality, giving me faith in life and wisdom beyond the physical world. I find simply being conscious outside of my physical body to be uplifting, even if I'm just walking around my room in the astral. Most of my experiences have been pretty short and simple, but some have gone well beyond the ordinary and have had immeasurable impacts upon me...

The First Time I Woke Up in a Dream

I learned how to wake up in dreams in the Dreams and Out-of-Body Experiences course run by The Gnostic Movement. I don’t mean to become lucid in a dream where you become aware that you are dreaming and gain some control over the dream, I mean to take it one step further and actually ‘wake up’, becoming fully conscious so that you are not dreaming at all anymore, and to have a conscious astral travel experience.
