Hi Steph?
I don't know if this is your name? Some of your experiences can be premonition of the future some other can be only projection of your subconsciousness. I have to honestly say I never had that kind of experience before, I had only that premonition in physical world, and that was very limited because of my subconsciousness. I hope that someone will answer your question better than I did. I have to add one thing, you don't have to be afraid to get into astral or to have out-of-body experience, it is safe.
Hopefully I answered some of your questions?
Jiri
One more thing. I recommend you the book "Astral travel and dreams" by Belzebuub. This book can answer your basic questions about your psyche and show you very useful techniques how to get into astral.

Hi Steph,
No you are not dying, what you have seen is perfectly normal! When you project out of your body, you project to what we call 'the astral plane' of the 5th dimension – but this is not some far away place, it is just another dimension to the physical one. All these dimensions exist simultaneously right now, as though they over-lap each other.
We are multi-dimensional beings. Our physical body resides in the physical plane, which is the 3rd dimension (length, width and height). We are subject to time, which is of the 4th dimension. But our psyche resides in higher dimensions, with the 5th dimension being the realm of our thoughts and emotions. It is in this 5th dimension that we find the astral plane. And the various parts of us reside in these various dimensions, all at once.
Everything that is in this physical world has an astral counterpart. So if we are having a clear, objective OBE, everything we see here in the physical, we also see there in the astral.
Here is a really cool 5 min cartoon that explains a bit about dimensions and may help you to understand what dimensions are... http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=BWyTxCsIXE4
I have experienced something similar to you once – I was in the astral in my bedroom, and my clock-radio alarm went off so I turned it off. Then a few minutes later my alarm really did go off in the physical and woke me up! So I 'saw' a couple of minutes into the future, just like you did with your email.
The astral (5th dimension) is outside of time (4th dimension), so sometimes it is also called 'eternity'. Because it is beyond time as we know it here, we can see things over there before they happen here. This is also why sometimes people can have prophetic dreams where they see premonitions of the future – it is because dreams also take place in the astral.
I also highly recommend the book that Jiri has mentioned, it is really good for explaining all these things and more. You can get it here and it's really cheap: http://www.absolutepublishingpress.com/when-I-go-to-sleep (The old edition is called “Astral Travel and Dreams, and the new edition is called “When I go to Sleep, but they are essentially the same book).
If you can't afford the book (it seems like you have bought a lot of books lately!) then you can do a free on-line course that covers much of the information that you would get in the book anyway: http://www.gnosticawakenings.com/gnostic-courses/astral-travel-dreams
These both really helped me to understand a whole lot of this stuff, and helped me learn how to make the most out of my OBEs. I had read a whole lot of other books before I found this information, and none of them were as comprehensive or accurate.
I hope that helps you! Good luck :)
Amy
Hi Steph,
I just saw your new post now...we must have been posting at the same time, LOL! Wow that's great how you can naturally project like that! I wish I could project so easily, but normally I have to do a lot of work and be trying really hard to get into the astral (things like doing concentration practices and being really 'aware' during the day instead of daydreaming, that sort of thing). You have a real gift!
My brother used to have that same gift too, but it seems to have stopped in the last few years. But up until then he would naturally project like you.
The feeling of 'being frozen' or paralyzed is perfectly normal too. On a physical level, when we begin to fall to sleep our brains produce a chemical that stops our body moving around, and this stops us from sleepwalking and acting out our dreams when we are asleep.
The other thing that happens when we fall to sleep, is that our consciousness leaves the physical body and goes into the astral plane. This happens every single time we sleep, only normally we are not aware of it because our thoughts project as images onto the astral plane, and usually we get lost in these subconscious projections of the mind and find ourselves walking around in a dream, not realizing where we really are. If we remain conscious though as we fall to sleep (just like you are doing) then we become aware of this natural process of splitting from the body when sleep comes, and we consciously project into the astral and see what it is really like (which is usually just like the physical as I explained in the post above, and which you have seen for yourself).
But during that process of splitting from the body, sometimes we are only part of the way out... we are not quite in our physical body, but at the same time we are not quite out enough to have control of our astral body either, and as such we can't move either body. When this happens it feels like we are paralyzed. If you were to just keep relaxing though, eventually you would project all the way out of your body and be able to move around in the astral. So you don't need to try another technique, the sleep paralysis is a good sign that you are on the right track!
Do you sometimes feel other sensations too, like a tingly feeling like static electricity is running through your body and everything is shaking? Or strange whirring noises and things like that? They are some of the other sensations I get too when I am projecting.
I just noticed you live in Australia. I am from Melbourne, but I moved to the USA last year. I don't know where you live, but the people who run this site have Centers in Melbourne, Geelong, Sydney, Queensland, Brisbane and Perth (click on the links at the bottom of this page for more info: http://www.gnosticawakenings.com/centers). If you live anywhere near one of these Centers contact them – they teach the 'Astral Travel and Dreams' courses in person, and you can go and speak to people there who have lots of experience with the astral. They are really nice people too! (And the courses are free in the Centers too, just like on-line).
Good luck with it. And make the most out of your gift while you can! As I said, by brother's natural tenancy to astral travel just kinda stopped a couple of years ago. Now he is like me and has to work for it!
All the best!
Amy
hi amy thanks for the advice.. yes i do get weird sensations like i feel all light and tingly all over sometimes my muscles twitch nd it jacks up my hands nd arms a little bit its weird.
and i had sumthing quite weird happen to me
my friend nd i had the same dream just differnt points of view that i ran hom off the road in a car
and also while i was at work tonite i picked up a glass.. held it in my palm while i went to grab another and it shatterd into 100's of tiny peices in my hands... is that a bad thing?
Hi Stephanie,
I think is OK unless you cut your fingers. To understand dreams is very delicate thing, I can only say that is better to do not talk about your dreams, they can be very symbolic and they are here only for you. To understand dreams you need to use intuition, which means that the first thing which cross your mind can be the understanding of your dream. You can also develop your intuition by pronouncing mantra O, check the link: http://www.gnosticweb.com/pswbook/MantraO.mp3. Pronouncing this mantra for at least 20 min, you can develop your intuition to get the power to grasp the meaning of your dreams. Also in the book which I mentioned before there is in chapter 8, explanation of some symbols in your dreams and this can be very helpful to you.
Jiri
Hi Steph,
Yeah I can relate to that – sometimes my arms will jack up into the air, or my legs will move to a funny position and that sort of thing. Here is a tip – when that happens, you may have already split into the astral and not realize it. So get up and check where you are. By that I mean gently get up out of bed (really get up, don’t just imagine it) and take a little jump with the intention of floating (you have probably worked out that when you are in the astral you can float in the air and fly), so even if it ‘feels’ like you are still in the physical, gently get up and check just to make sure. Often when our limbs start to move like that, it is a sign we are actually in the astral. Check a couple of times, and if you are still in the physical lay down again until those sensations happen and get up and check again. Eventually you will get up in the astral.
That is interesting about you and your friend having the same dream but from different points of view. Because the astral is a real place, you can see other people there. So if 2 people are in the astral at the same time, you can have a shared experience. Sometimes you may be conscious and aware in the astral, and the other person may be in a dream, and then they may or may not remember seeing you in their dream (depending on their level of lucidity at the time). But it sounds like both of you had some lucidity (which means some degree of awareness) so you remember seeing each other in your dreams.
Regarding the glass – do you mean it shattered in your hand for real, like in the physical and not a dream? I wouldn’t worry about that too much, there are probably physical factors that caused that – maybe it had been dropped before and the glass was already stressed or something.
The astral is safe, and having conscious astral experiences doesn’t have negative effects on us, either there or in the physical. Everyone goes there every singly night anyway, conscious or not. You are just lucky enough to be aware of what is really happening when you sleep.
Also, nothing can hurt you in the astral either. Sometimes we can run into things that may frighten us a bit, but know that nothing can actually hurt you and you are safe.
Best Wishes,
Amy
no it was it was while i was awake it exploded in my hand . its ok it looked kool anyway :D
ok so next time my arms start to jack up i will try get up and see if im awake or not and ill post on here what happens :]
thanks again guys
steph
i tried agin but failed i wish i had more guidance i bopught a book called astral travel for beginers it got rid of all fear that i had but i cnt project anymore
Hey Steph,
Don’t be downhearted, you’ll project again!
Here is another important tip: how ‘aware’ we are during the day has a BIG influence on how successful our astral endeavors are at night, so I recommend you focus on daily awareness. I know it really helps me in a big way to get to the astral.
‘Awareness’ is where we anchor ourselves in the present moment with all of our 5 senses and come out of the relentless thinking of the mind. For example, notice the temperature of the room and feel your clothes on your skin, notice all the sounds you can hear both far away and close by, really look around at everything you can see, notice the sensation of breathing, notice any fragrances you can smell etc etc. When thoughts come, let them go and come back to the awareness of the present moment. Really try to get out of your thoughts during the day as much as you can and into awareness.
You will be amazed just how much this will help you get consciously into the astral; the more conscious (aware) we are during the day = the more conscious we are at night.
You can even set yourself ‘awareness’ activities through the day: pick 3 activities you do every day and try to do them in awareness. Showering, eating and getting dressed/undressed are good ones – every time you do these activities, be as aware as you can. Use these activities as daily reminders to be aware (as it is easy to forget to do it during the day).
Also, go for an 'awareness walk' each day; open up all of your senses as you walk and be aware of the present moment. You will notice thoughts keep coming up in your mind, but let them go and keep coming back to the present moment.
Give this a go tomorrow and come back and let us know what happened!
It’s great that you are overcoming your fear too! I’m so glad that book helped you with that. I have read LOTS of AP books, but honestly the best one I have come across is the one recommended to you in my previous thread called “When I go to Sleep”. In my opinion it’s the best one out there, so if you get the chance read that one too.
Good luck and I'm looking forward to hearing about how you go!
Amy
Hi Steph,
Keep positive and follow Amy's instructions. She could most probably be a trainer in the Astral Course with her experience and the way she explains the AP process.
You might also enrol for the Course and get all the tools and advice from trainers, moderators and even other students on AP, the Astral, dreams etc.
Keep practising.
Warm regards,
Claude
