Difference between lucid dreaming and consious AP?

I have had a few lucid dreams that all seem to turn into subconscious dreams after a short time. I am working on being more conscious when awake and hope for this to give a good effect.

I have not yet had any success in AP’ing by will. Will a conscious AP or AP by will be more conscious or will the state be just the same? Is there any reason to believe that I will pass into a dream after a short while when I AP by will, just like I do when having a LD?

Hi Thor,

Good on you for working on being more aware during the day and keep going with it. When you get it right you will be able to notice the difference the efforts your making during the night time. Remember that the subconscious elements in our psyche have many layers to them and sometimes more effort is needed to be applied than first realized to make the awareness work well enough to have the desired effect in the astral.

Don't worry if you haven't achieved a conscious AP by will just yet, keep working with the techniques that you want to investigate the astral with until you get the result you would like. If you keep trying you will get an experience sometimes even when you least expect it!

Going into the astral consciously is different than waking up from the dream state, sometimes it can be clear all the way through the sleep process and a clear Astral projection can be experienced, you know your there, you've experienced the separation of the astral body from the physical, you know your experiencing the floating sensation that occurs in the astral world, etc. But remember if you wake up from the dream state in the astral your still in the same place and you have become conscious so effectively you can do the same things as if you got there by a conscious projection.

Yes you can fall into the dream state from a conscious or willed projection because the subconscious states that we have are always there with us, apart of us trying to make us fall asleep and that's the thing that we're trying to fight against, all those subconscious thoughts, feeling, drives and emotions that blind us from the reality of reality! If we can be clear from them it helps to be clearer in the astral.

All the best & see you on the sites
Steve

Hi Thor,
You have already received a reply, but thought I'd make a comment as well, might be able to expand on a few things perhaps.

There are some defenete differences between out of body experiences and lucid dreams. While at the same time those differences are due to the nature of the individual, where he is located dimensionally, level of experience etc. Those differences can lessen and even go away entirely with experience, development etc.

Some of the main differences between an out of body experience and a lucid dream, is that as a lucid dream technically means the individual is dreaming and then inside the dream, in the location where he is dreaming, he realizes it is a dream and as such attains consciousness. This then means the consciousness has activated/woken up in midst of total absorption in subconscious... The level of consciousness here is therefor often not as maximized as during an average out of body experience. There can also be a lot of subconscous imagery and "hallucinations" around the place the individual is in, from the previous dream.

In the average out of body experience, the individual leaves the body from the bed... and as such is not active inside a running dream scenario. This makes it easier for the available consciousness to be maximized, easier for the individual to use all or most of his consciousness, and making it easier to be as awake out of body as during the average daily activity (though it does vary). There are also no subconscous imagery remaining from previous dream around, so person starts off in a more objective enviroment and surrounding.

Now easily put the above is true, however in reality it is a bit more complex. By for instance getting conscious in a dream, it is possible to clear away the subconscious images around, it is possible to travel away from them to other regions. It is also possible with experience of getting conscious in dream, to learn to and with experience manage to maximize the usage of their available consciousness. So that when getting conscious in the dream, the consciousness wakes up more optimally and fully, which also lessen and gets rid of the previous subconscious "pull". This then basically removes the differences between the average out of body experience and a lucid dream.

In addition, lucid dreams as that means getting conscious during dream state, in location of dream... It means the individual would find itself in the location where he was dreaming. Whereas during average out of body experience the individual classically begins in location of the physical body (though it is not a necessity). But as people tend to dream in certain "less interesting" locations... This makes technically the starting point difference big... As through a classical out of body experience, the individual can often start relatively close to the material dimension, even see the living etc... While during lucid dreams, the individual often starts in the place where he was dreaming, which is further away from the material dimension... This then also makes them a bit different... However, by getting conscious in dream, the individual can of course travel freely away from that region and into other regions, where there is more things of interesting going on...

Essentially speaking, there are differences... while at the same time there are none... The differences that exists, can be walked around so that there are no differences. In both cases, the individual are out of body in the higher dimensions, in the astral... So even if there can be differences like dimensional starting point and other things, the potentials are essentially the same... the dimension is the same... what can be done in both are the same...

It is for instance very much possible for a person who has a classical out of body experience and starts out in his bedroom... To then visit another person he knows, which is in some other area dreaming... It is possible for a person who has a classical out of body experience to meet up with a person who has a lucid dream and them travel together. Now of course, chances of both being out conscious at same time, and meeting up with each other are very slim, but point is that it "can" be done.

All individuals have more or less different amount of consciousness... The more consciousness an individual have, the higher the potential to be awake in this physical world, and also in other worlds like the astral. Any individual is able to be as awake, maximum, as the amount of consciousness they have, in any reality. As such, a person which has quite a bit of consciousness would easily be able to be more conscious during a technical lucid dream, than another individual which has a low level of consciousness would be during a classical out of body experience.

Regardless if you are out of body in a classical sense, or have lucid dreams... You are out of body, and have amazing potentials to explore reality, awake and conscious...

Often times in dreams where i've been drowning or on a boat sinking i've been able to tell my self in my dream that it's only that a dream and i can breathe under water and end up turning what would be a nightmare into a fun time. I'm trying one of those adjustable beds and wondering if that has anything to do with it

Hey David,

Good that you've been able to realize you're dreaming in those dreams. If this theme occurs often though, it might be worthwhile to look a bit more into the different aspects of the dream and see if it wants to tell you something. Usually, when we have a recurring dream, which we can have for years even, there's a teaching there that we're not getting.

Also, it can be very useful to have a plan ready for those times that you do become conscious in the astral. The conscious time we have there is so little it's precious, so it's good to use it for instance to get teachings from higher beings about ourself. When you become conscious you're dreaming, you can, for example, ask your inner being to take you somewhere to be taught or to show you what you most need to see.
